we are Common-Good, a new wave of New Zealand Architects with a beautifully simple ethos; smart design for how kiwis want to live today
good for the people
Home isn’t just one thing anymore. What was once the dining room might double as an office and kitchen’s are the heart of the party. The spaces we call home must adapt with modern life. We design joyful architecture which enables that flexibility, enhances wellbeing and creates connection. Home is where we spend a huge chunk of our lives, so it’s got to feel good and function. Less flashy, more thoughtful means better living for all.
good for the planet
Responsibility and thoughtfulness is at the heart of our ethos, because there is no planet B. Good architecture means enduring design solutions that have a lighter footprint on the planet. And that shouldn’t cost the earth - we design for all budgets and all ambitions. Ultimately, it’s about creating a more sustainable future for ourselves and protecting what we have for generations to come.
Common-Good Architects is a practice member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the New Zealand Green Building Council. We care for the design and function of a space as much as the environmental impact of the total project.

our founder
TR (otherwise known as Toni-Rose), is a Registered Architect with a Masters Degree from Wellingtons Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation - Victoria University of Wellington.
She has over 10 years experience, predominantly in residential design - from smart & small spaces to luxury bespoke homes. Starting off in Christchurch working for Borrmeister Architects during the Christchurch re-build, before relocating, setting up and running the North Island office of Borrmeister Architects for the last 6 years from her hometown of Whangamata, she was a fundamental part of the Borrmeister team for the last 10 years.
Common-Good was born at the end of 2021. A small but smart Architectural studio with a simple vision - great design that is as good for people as it is for the planet.
Beyond Architecture, TR loves the outdoors and adventuring with her partner Brad (a good builder) and their Springer Spaniel, Georgia. Their travels have taken them skiing in Japan to surfing in Sri Lanka.
TR is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the New Zealand Green Building Council, as well as a qualified Homestar Designer, Homestar Assessor and Green Star Accredited Professional.
